Circular Saw Blade Sharpening Service

Circular Saw Blade Sharpening Alabama

Our fee for sharpening circular saw blades used to be based on the number of teeth on the blade and the type of blade so we always had trouble remembering what those fees were. So we decided to take another route and simplify things and therefore be able to quickly tell you what our fees are. We now charge $3.50 plus 25¢ per tooth regardless of the type of blade. So, if you have a forty-two tooth blade, the charge would be $3.50 plus $10.50 for a total of $14.00. You should ask yourself if this is a good price before you bring the blade to us. If you are buying steel-tooth blades, such as those without carbide teeth, the fee might be pretty close to the price of a new blade. But, premium blades and just about all carbide tipped blades will cost much more than a sharpening fee and those blades can be sharpened many, many times before replacement is needed.

We have customers that ask about sharpening blades themselves and it is entirely possible for you to do it yourself if you are willing to learn the difference in how each type of blade should be sharpened. The most critical factor in sharpening circular saw blades is alligning the blade so the correct angle can be maintained on the cutting edge. This is why we decided to simplify our fee schedule and start with the $3.50 fee which is nothing more than a setup fee. Some blades require that the sharpening angle be changed for every other tooth and some blades such as combination blades have two or more angles requiring two or more depth settings.

To give you an idea of the care we take to properly setup the blade for sharpening, here are a few pictures of the steps we take along with a short explanation of each step:

Depending on the blade, setup may take 10 to 30 minutes- especially combination blades and special purpose blades.

If you have questions about sharpening or caring for your blades, we will be happy to see if we can help. And, by the way, if you have blades that are destined for the trash bin, bring them to us instead of throwing them away. We often have need for steel for knife making and other uses.

Give us a call at 251-583-5955.

Circular Saw Blade Sharpening

Circular Saw Blade Sharpening In Baldwin County

Hello and happy new year. Wow – our first post of the new year. Iit’s kind of neat that our (Terry & Vickie) retirement extra-income business of sharpeing is beginning its second year. We have been sharpening tools, knives and scissors for years but that was more as a hobby. Now, it is more than that.

This will be a quick post that has two purposes:

(1)… We want to remind you that we provide sharpening services for Baldwin County Alabama. In fact, our estimate is that thirty to forty percent of our business is from Baldwin County folks. To save you drive time and mileage, call to make arrangements and we will meet you in downtown Mobile Alabama, just west of the tunnel on Governement Street. Most of the time we meet our customers at the intersection of Jackson Street and Government Street, right beside Government Street Presbyterian Church located at 300 Government Street in Mobile, AL 36602. Here’s a map:

(2)… Our prices for circular saw blade sharpening is $3.50 plus 25¢ per tooth. We remind you of that here in this post to make you aware that although our fee is low, it can really add up when you bring us a stack of blades like our most recent customer from Baldwin County did. There were twelve blades in this stack that included three eighty-tooth blades. Each eighty-tooth blade is $3.50 + $20.00 = $23.50. Of course this customer had been bringing us blades for years and it is not unusual to receive twenty or more for sharpening. This customer wisely maintains a large inventory of blades and brings a pile when it is convenient. Also, he is in no rush to get them back. We like that. Standing over our workbench is hard on the back at times.

Okay. There you have it. We are back from our Christmastime visits with the kids and grandkids and we’re hanging around the house doing a bit of sharpening. We’re ready for your sharpening needs and guarantee satisfaction. Give us a call at 251-583-5955 (Terry’s cell phone).
