I was happy to accept an invitation to this month’s meeting of the South Alabama Woodworkers. I was asked by one of my customers if I would care to attend and have a little show and tell demo for sharpening handsaws and since I am always eager to meet new people I did not hesitate to accept the invitation.
I was concerned that nothing could be more boring than watching someone filing teeth on a handsaw but the group showed sincere interest and had questions that encouraged me to share as much information as possible.
As I passed along to the woodworkers, the most important factor in sharpening hand saws is the file. Using the proper file and maintaining the tooth cutting angle is the key to a sharp handsaw.
