Hair Shears Sharpening
A customer dropped off a pair of ICE shears, model 1000 cut because they would not cut. They were given as a gift to the customer’s hair dresser and they failed. After looking at the shears it was obvious that they did need sharpening but the biggest problem was the tension setting. The tension is set with the pivot screw and as with most shears, the pivot screw was rusted in place. Only after four days of soaking and agitating in a break-free solution was I able to turn the pivot screw and get the scissor adjusted. I had to add a little to the sharpening fee in order to paid for my time working with the pivot screw but the total charge for cleaning, adjusting and sharpening was $14.00. I feel this is very reasonable as most shops charge $20.00 or more just to sharpen hair shears.
